There is so much beauty to be seen in this world. When Chuck and I first talked about a honeymoon, we both agreed we wanted to do an "adventure honeymoon" instead of a beach trip. While I wouldn't have been opposed to the beach, I do LOVE everything about the mountains. The fresh air. The views. The wildlife. The landscape. All of it brings so much life to my soul.
As a freshman in college I took a Geology of National Parks class and learned all about the different landscapes, rocks, and natural wonders our beautiful county has to offer it's citizens, as well as those who travel from abroad to view what America has to offer for sight-seeing. I've been around the world, visited different countries with vast landscapes, enough to make you step back for a moment and really think about how beautiful this world is. And while I'm a huge fan of visiting other cultures, peoples and places, there is something to be said about exploring my own nation, culture and heritage.
Taking that class my freshman year really brought out a new love for nature in me. I enjoyed the outdoors and whatnot, but that class taught me to appreciate all the hard work Theodore Roosevelt put in to creating spaces in the USA for us to still enjoy without all the skyscrapers, McDonalds and Starbucks'. I'm so thankful for his love of nature because without him, I wouldn't have been able to enjoy seeing the glaciers, or been able to hike up the side of many mountains with trails maintained by the National Park staff. I am forever grateful.
While on our trip, we had the opportunity to do a little work for Winona Apparel, a company based in our humble town in Minnesota. I loved brining their hats around as we huffed and puffed our way to the top of the mountain in Glacier National Park and saw the views of the Grand Tetons in Jackson Hole, WY. Definitely go check out their work and apparel at www.winonaapparel.com.
